Newsletter: December 23th, 2023

Our meetings in 2024 will once again be held every third Tuesday of the month at 6pm at City Hall. 2024 IS A BIG ELECTION YEAR! We hope you will join us at each of our meetings and get involved with our efforts to re-elect Joe Biden and down ballot Democrats. We will be massively upping our  efforts with voter registration, vote by mail, door knocking, phone banking, text banking and much more.

Happy Holidays Suwannee Democrats! I hope this email finds you well and in a joyous mood for this beautiful season.

As most of you know, I am an ardent fan of grassroots campaigning for Democrats, and my love of knocking doors really got started in earnest when I worked tirelessly on the campaign of Barack Obama for President in 2007 and 2008. President Obama inspired a generation, including me, to get out and work and fight for what is right. In the New Year, for 2024, we in the Big Bend region of Florida will embark on the Take 5 Initiative to MAKE SURE that we get every single voter in our precincts out to vote for Democrats up and down the ballot! We are asking every single Democrat who is committed to seeing a better community, state and country, to find five people who do not normally vote. They may not even be registered to vote. And to connect with each of them and have discussions about the importance of their vote. And to follow up and follow through to make sure that they sign up to vote by mail - VBM - or Vote Early in October 2024.

It's easy to find 5 people in your circle and with the new App called REACH that we Florida Democrats are using this year to Reach people among our family, friends and neighbors, it's easy to check whether they are people who vote in every election, or if they are someone in our Take 5 who needs that extra push.  And here's the best part - we will help you do this and will even find voters you can help get to the polls if you don't know anyone.

I know that we all know how much is at stake in this election. Our freedoms, our social security, our precious environment, our values as working Americans. It's all on the ballot. So I ask you to watch the short clip I have included of President Barack Obama as he campaigned in NH in 2020. He tells the story of "Fired Up and Ready to Go" and he explains how One Voice Can Change a Room . . . and the World. Next year, in 2024, let us all pledge together to BE THE CHANGE WE WANT TO SEE IN THE WORLD!

Are you FIRED UP? Are you READY TO GO?

We are so very excited to announce that the Suwannee Democratic Party has been awarded a $2000 grant to help us register voters and finance efforts to increase VOTE BY MAIL. This money will help fund items needed to register voters, purchase post cards and postage, pay for text messaging, printing slate cards, and much more.

We sincerely thank the FLDP for their help!

You can help us supplement our grant from the Florida Democratic Party by joining our 24 FOR 24 fundraising push. The 2024 election is shaping up to be one of the, if not the, most consequential elections of our lifetime. We need to do everything we can to defeat the Republican nominees.

What is 24 FOR 24?

We’re asking you to sign up for a recurring donation

of $24 every month for the year 2024.

For example, if 10 people sign up for a recurring donation

of $24, our anonymous donor will give $240.

There’s only 10 Cutest Critter Calendars left!

Get your calendar TODAY before they are all gone.

Floridians Protecting Freedom has collected enough petitions to get abortion rights on the ballot, but signatures must be validated. It is inevitiable that some petitions will be rejected, so we need to ensure that the number of submitted petitions is well beyond the number required. Please sign and send in the petition to guarantee women the right to abortion in Florida.

The 406 is closed the first Thursday of January; therefore, our next Drinking Liberally will be on Thursday, February 1st. We hope you will join us for our first social hour in the new year!
